It is harder to be a woman in business…

This is the excerpt for your very first post.

They can say there is no “double standard” or women are treated the same but that is just not true.

Honestly, I don’t think it will ever be. Lets go back to the bible, where women are created to be a help mate, as assistant basically right?

That is all fine and good, and I think in a business, just like in a household, everyone has a role. If each role is played to its greatest potential, then you can have a super team.

I think that is what we lack as women sometimes, is our greatest potential because we are realistically going against the grain to max it out. That is part of why this group exists. We have so much untapped potential. Time to fix that!

I like to listen to Les Brown, and one of my favorite quotes of his is:

“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry our their dream.”

Let’s make sure we use ourselves up on this earth…

Closing deals in heels…yep we’re fancy now

I have learned in my years in business that work is never done, you cant clock out or stop thinking about. If you have goals, dreams and plans, it will never end.

There is no “balance”. If I take extra time in the day to go to my kids school or run some personal errands or have lunch with a friend or whatever, then that means that night I am making up for the lost time in the day with work.

That is just the reality of it. I think the way to find balance is to prioritize at that moment. That day, having lunch with my kid at school because she gave me her pouty face and said it would mean a lot to her is what was most important at that time. If that means I am up later finishing up some work, then oh well. I made my kid happy and spent some QT with her. Those are the things I will look back on and be happy I did.

So make sure you do those things…more then you think you should. Work will always be there, and there will always be something to do. The important thing is when you do anything, you prioritize. And yes, do it in heels, because it makes you feel pretty!

A few things I have learned from this group

This is the excerpt for a featured post.

aj0c7299I have learned that it is true, you cannot do anything alone. Life just wasnt made that way.

No matter what business you are in, you have to have people. If you sell something-you need people to sell it to. If you offer a service, you need people/things to service. If you are a manager, you need people to manage. You cannot do anything alone. I could not sell insurance without people to sell it to and carriers to sell for.

The best asset you could have in business and life in general is strong relationships. All kinds of relationships. You can accomplish nothing without them. I have tried. Which is what brought me to this group.

I have also learned that you can be happy, in any situation. Rich or poor, busy or not, sick or well, whatever life state you are in, you just have to decide to be happy. I used to think once I sold so many policies, or had my dream house or whatever then I would start being really happy all the time. Not how it works. You have to mentally decide, I am happy, regardless of your situation. When you do that, you will be happy.

Life is hard, complicated, scary, fun, simple, exciting and so many other things every day. Business is part of life and all of those things as well. You need strong relationships, drive and a decision to be happy and everything will fall into place.
